Only suggestions I have are to source a decent roller stem, figure out your steerer tube length and cut appropriately. Nothing wrong with the Salsa stem just my opinion. An interesting bike ... Happy riding.

I don't see any similarities between the two frames.

Since most serial numbers have some logic to them I would assume the 51 = the size in centimeters which would be an easy check for you. Nice frame regardless and if it's your size build it, ride it and enjoy it.

How do you know this frame is 18 inches?

Most obvious answer is .... it's a custom build. A repaint wouldn't explain the serial number.

Interesting how it seems (to me) there were a lot of small Ti frames built in 1993. Scott any insight on this?

Also there can't be many polished Ti frames from the late 90's floating around as it was an expensive option.

Employee bikes were different than production frames so serial numbers and geometries won't apply. Also there will most likely be custom "touches" which wouldn't be standard such as Wilson dropouts etc. It is possible that a frame was mis-stamped on the BB shell and marked as a "second" and...
