In my need to own one of every rare Fat they ever made, I ended up with this, Fat #8458. There have been multiple stories of how this came to exist. First, that it's from the handful of frames where Chris first produced the TIG-welded MTB, but that either the dealers at the show thought it didn't look beefy enough & wouldn't sell without big visible fillets, or that the riders & customers weren't feeling the little welds aesthetics, or that Chris himself wasn't 100% sure tig would be strong enough without adding some extra reinforcing here & there. Either way, apparently this is the dawn of the tig welded mountain bike. Comes with the Box Crown fork, and campy chromed cable guides. I had it stripped down to bare metal about 15 years ago, and had to paint it something, so it's not an amazing paint job but it's mid/late-80's green-white-magenta splatter. Pics included show what it was like stripped, and what it looks like with some parts on it. 18.5"top/17.25"c seattube, 22"toptube, 26.4 post, 28.6FD.
Frameset is $1600 + Shipping on here, more if it goes to ebay. If you want the Bullseyes or Campy Record OR parts I have those slated for ebay too, but they cost money.
