I just got a wicked fat chance at an auction for $20 its black with yellow fork deore deraileurs and biopace chainrings. Brakes are catilevers front and back, araya rm-20 rims with deore hubs. It has the american flag at the top of the seat tube. Serial # is 00818w. Can anyone tell me what year it was made? Thanks Brian

2017 update for 809W01

After riding my full suspension bike for awhile, I went back to using my Wicked for everything except rough trails. Here's some pictures (attached).

Frame type: Wicked
Frame number: 809W01
Year of manufacture: 1991ish
Frame size: 19ish
Color: Metallic blue - dark but not so dark
Location: Originally purchased Salt Lake City, UT but now in Oregon
Owner name: Steve

I bought this frame new in the early 90s and built it with all XT, King headset, etc. I recall having the bike called "old" in about 1995 when I had just ridden to the top of the Snowbird (UT) tram. It's still going good, sometimes commuting, sometimes trail riding. ONLY NOW have I even considered getting a FS bike for off road.

Will post some pics and the build card soon. Original paint and decals are intact (but have taken a beating).

(There's a rumour, that Chris welded it quickly for a family member/friend or so, because besides the strange frame number the geometry of the frame is a mix of a size S and size XS and a non existing size ;))
Year of manufacture: 1994
Frame size: S
Color: lime green (original)
Location: Germany/Berlin

I think it reads YO M 1097, any ideas on year and that paint scheme ?
What's the purpose of the studs on the chain stay?
