It has been a very busy summer. Started a new job in June and have been working on my never-ending porch renovation.
If that box crown is welded, it is most likely Tange Prestige.

Hello Gang!
Was reading through this so I measured my box crown fork. It appears that you measured from the very top of the crown race. I measured mine in the same manner and it is 4.875" (4-7/8"). My Wicked is an 18" and the 16.5"s used the same head tube and forks. I would say that yours came off of a 19.5" but could fit an 18" by stacking the headset (which will raise the handlebar height) or carefully cutting the threaded section (don't ask me to weld it back on if you eff it up). Mine also has the rifled Columbus steerer tube but no gussets. Some of the early ones did crack at the back of the fork tube to crown weld joint and that is why later versions (and any that were repaired) are gusseted. Unfortunately, forks were not serialized in any way, so there is no way of telling the date of manufacture or if its even genuine (although I believe this one is). The ride quality of the box crown is what sets it apart from all other rigid forks of its era. The road blades give it a suppleness and the straight stance gives it the needed tire clearance and surefootedness that others tried to match but never could.
Used ones in that good of condition are now quite rare.

That just sums up FATs and their original fork designs right there. FATs are often copied but never bettered.
