Yo Eddy 1991 Retro Mod

I acquired this frame about 12 months ago with major rust issues at the usual seat tube bb area. Fortunately I have a very very capable colleague who was happy to help out. I own a few 26” retro bikes including other FAT’s so really fancied doing something different with this.
First thing was replace the rotten seat tube. The canti bosses & triple cable guides were removed too. Single stops welded on and hose clips on the left side of top tube. I purchased PMW disc mounts for rear of frame and also for the hose clips.
A fork was always going to be an issue especially as I’d decided to squeeze 27.5” wheels into it. Asked my friend who simply said I’ll make you a fork. I tracked down some 1” Columbus fork blades with matching dropouts and a Willits style disc mount.
The build is your standard modernish 1X with a couple of retro hooks thrown in.
This will not be for all of the FAT purists out there! But I cannot believe how amazing this bike rides and handles. I’ve logged a few hundred miles on it so far on light trails. Absolutely love it.

I love that! Even though I welded many a FAT frame, I am not a purist by any means. If I had the funds and access to a shop again, I would do the same thing to my titanium frame and completely update it. Nice way to take a YO into the 21st century. Smart to add the bridge tube under the rear caliper mount. Is that caliper mount brazed to the seatstay? It's hard to tell with the white paint.

Thanks for the positive words. Happy you like what I’ve done with it. Its replaced my gravel bike for sure. In fact I rode my FAT Ti the other day and even that felt slower than this. It makes such a huge difference having the bigger wheels and the disc brakes. The disc mount is tig welded onto the stay
